Select The Day Wisely
Target marks down clearance for specific categories on fixed days as they know that such a change in schedule can find better deals. The following is a sample schedule that we found might be right for Target stores: Monday is suitable for electronics and accessories. Also, it focusses on kids’ with their clothing, books, baby products and stationery.
Tuesday is suitable for women’s clothing and items for pets with great deals on daily market products.
Wednesday is a day for men’s clothing combined with health & beauty products with diapers for kids. Also has good deals on home products like furniture and home decor.
Thursday is a day for shoes and toys. Great offers can be found in housewares, luggage and decor.
Friday is for auto products, cosmetics and jewellery.
Target has its in-house brands that cost much less than brands of the same category. The preparation for most of their brands competes directly with big brand names.
Check for Price Adjustments
It’s good to stalk what you just purchased. You can finally buy the dress you’ve been craving for, to see it go on sale the next day. Well, at Target, you can get the difference refunded between the new sale price and what you paid. So for any item that goes on sale within 14 days after purchase, you can bring your receipt and Target will adjust the price for you. Some exclusions do apply, so make sure to read Target’s policy before claiming a price adjustment.
Check out Amazon
Shopping at Amazon to save money at Target? Yep, and since Target has a price match guarantee, you can select other retailers too, for that matter. As you might have expected, there are some rules and restrictions. But in general, Target will match the lower price from local retailers or online as well. You can bring in proof of the current lower price and your original Target receipt to Target’s guest service desk to claim your refund.
Look for the wall facing sign caps
End caps are the sections located at the end of the aisles. They are often filled with items that are marked way down. Keep looking for the ones marked “Clearance”. “Most of these are the ones facing the walls, not the main walking aisles, so you may have to do some searching for them,” said Palmer.
The clearance code
Clearance is the best deals at Target. But it follows a certain pattern. First, the item gets a price cut ranging from 15 per cent or 30 per cent, then to 50 per cent and finally to 70 per cent. Such items have a “Clearance” sticker with the original price, new price and the percentage of reduction in the top-right corner without the percentage (%) symbol. The number to the upper right corner should be checked to identify its deduction. If it says, ’70 its been marked down to 70 per cent. Decoding the clearance stickers: Item number ends with “9” – Item at full price Item number ends with “8” – Price marked down once Item number ends with “6” – Price marked down twice Item number ends with “4” – Final markdown price
Holiday Shopping: Early / Late

Then, a few days later, if any inventory is left over, they’ll go directly to 90 per cent off, that is almost free. According to All Things Target, here is the list of holiday seasons followed by Target: Valentine’s Day Easter Summer Back to School Halloween Christmas

Use wedding registry at Target
Whether you’re buying something for another couple or you’re getting hitched yourself, Target’s wedding registry is a great way to save money, said Jeanette Pavini, a savings expert with Coupons.com. It comes with a great bonus for both giver and receiver. “Givers get free shipping on all orders of $25 or more,” Pavini said. And after the event, newlyweds get a coupon for 15 per cent off on remaining products on their registry.

You can knock up close to 10 per cent off on your bill by buying discount gift cards at sites like Gift Card Granny, Giftcard Zen or Raise. The tickets are real gift cards that you use like cash, so the perks are you get with the gift card savings in addition to any savings with sales or coupons.
Time is money
It’s said time is money, right? Well, the Curbside service — which is available for Target in select areas of San Jose, San Francisco, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Chicago — can help you save a ton of it. Basically, you place an order from the Target of your choice, and then pick it up at the curb. “You won’t even have to leave your car,” said Palmer.
The Dollar Spot
Target’s Dollar Spot, which is at the entrance to the store, is an excellent stop for serious bargain-hunters, said Palmer. Items in this section are often just $1 but can be as much as $2 or $3, she said — and even these products get marked down. “Certain items will get marked down to 50 per cent off and then 70 per cent off, so you end up paying 50 cents or 30 cents,” she said. “I find great deals on stationery items, colouring books, small toys, holiday items and more.”
How often have you run into a market for some eggs and a gallon of milk and come out an hour later with a cart full of extra stuff? That usually refers to the opposite of saving. “Planning is one of the biggest keys when it comes to saving money,” said Palmer. So you should take 20 minutes before you leave for Target and plan your trip. “Make a list and stick to it,” she said. “Those Target buyers seem to know what people like, so it’s straightforward to see something you just have to have.” If it’s something you need, don’t worry, you’ll be back.
Don’t back on Advertisements only
Periodically, Target might have unadvertised markdowns on products. These bargains will be labelled with red and white sale signs, and the symptoms will have dates on the bottom, referring to how long the sales are valid, said Palmer. “Some are valid longer than a week; some sale prices will last a month or more,” she said.
Get the free Gift Card Promotion
Occasionally, Target will offer a Target gift card when you buy a certain number of specific items, said Palmer. “For example, they [might] give you a $10 gift card when you buy two boxes of brand-specific diapers or a $5 gift card when you buy three bottles of brand-specific shampoo or conditioner,” she said.
Bring in your reusable bags, and Target will give you a 5-cent discount at checkout for each bag. It’s not much, but it can add up — specifically on those big shopping days. So far, the savings seem to be summed up for shoppers and the environment: Target shoppers have used more than 190 million reusable bags instead of paper or plastic, according to Target’s website till now.
Workout with Target
Working out is great for your health, but workout clothes can make your wallet unhappy. To brush that off, check out Champion’s C9 line or workout clothes for Target, said Lori McDaniel of Offers.com. “You’ll save as much as 50 per cent compared to the regular Champion line on items like leggings,” she said. And she added that Target shoppers wouldn’t give up on quality with the C9 line.
Save the Receipt
Don’t rush out of that door: Many high-value coupons print after your receipt. You will receive them upon checkout, and Palmer said they could vary from 20 per cent off on a certain department to 50 cents to $5 off certain products. No wonder these Target shoppers come back again.
